How to Plan a Fun-filled Treasure Hunt Party
Keeping your kids busy during the
holidays is no less than a task. And when
it comes to having ten more of them at
your place for a couple of hours, it just becomes too much. Having kids over
for your child’s birthday party may seem like an easy thing, but it requires a lot of planning and organising to keep them entertained.
As parents, we have to think of games and activities that not only
keep them busy but also are safe for them to play. It is easy to let them sit
with their gadgets to keep them quite. However, for their mental and physical wellbeing, we all need to look for games
that are fun yet stimulating enough for them.
One such game that is an ultimate
boredom buster for children of all groups is the Treasure Hunt. One of the best parts of this game is that the
children are involved in it physically as well as mentally, and it can be organised anywhere from your backyard or your
basement. Secondly, you can tailor the
game according to the age group you are catering to and their interests.
Things you need before you start:
The game is quite inexpensive as
the main thing that you need is some sheets of paper to leave the clues, some
cardboards to mark the picture clues, some plaincotton bags to put in the scrambled alphabets as clues, some chalks or
paints to mark territories and a surprise game or toy as the reward. You can
use the old Halloween costumes, or you
can rent some for the kids to make the treasure hunt more interesting for the
children.
How to start:
Step 1-Choose the theme of the treasure hunt before you start
according to the likings of the birthday kid. There
are a lot of theme types to choose from like Disney princesses,
carnivals, picnics, circus, fairies, jungle or African theme and so on.
Step2- Mark the boundaries or the area where the treasure hunt is
going to take place by using chalks or paints so that the children can see the
directions or arrows (clue locations).
Step 3- Make the series of clues that are going to lead to the end
of the treasure hunt (meaning the big gift). Make sure that the clues are easy
enough for their age group to understand and follow and also they are helping
them learn something about the theme you have chosen.
Step-4-Create a different set of clues for different locations by using
a mixture of jigsaw puzzles scrambled
words or picture clues. The main idea is to solve one riddle that gives them a
clue to go to the next one till they reach their goal.
Step5- When all this is done
its time to hide all the clues one day before the party so that the birthday
kid can also participate in the hunt. Take one cotton bag and fill it with some
fake gold coins, toys or sweets so that it looks like treasure to the children
and hide that bag too.
